ABOUT TCSM

THREE COUNTIES SCHOOL OF MUSIC
Three Counties School of Music was established in 2010 and has operated  in association with the University of Gloucestershire ever since. TCSM is an independent assessment board, which provides a wide range of accessible and flexible grades (1-8), performance certificates, plus FOUR levels of performance diplomas - CertTCSM, DipTCSM, ATCSM & FTCSM

  • Is the traditional method of music assessments not for you?

  • Have you considered having your music performance remotely assessed by expert assessors  to gain grades 1 - 8 or diplomas from anywhere around the world?

  • If so, Three Counties School of Music Remote Assessment Scheme might fit the bill for anyone who would prefer not to have the pressure of a live assessment/ performance, yet still receive a worthwhile qualification.

What does TCSM assess?

TCSM assesses remotely in most musical instruments and voice from anywhere around the world. The range of instruments includes the following listed below, or indeed a mixed mode combination of instruments:

  • Bowed Strings
  • Guitar
  • Keyboards (Piano - Accompanist *** - Organ performance -
    Church organist) ***
  • Voice - Chorister
  • Woodwind
  • Brass
  • Ensembles  (Choirs / vocal groups / duets / orchestras / chamber groups / Bands) +
  • Musical Direction ***
  • Composition ***
  • Singer-songwriter ***
  • Dissertation (Topic based on either Music or Music & Liturgy) at Fellowship level only.

  • The disciplines above marked with *** are available at diploma level only

ACCREDITATION & UCAS POINTS
Due to the newly formed association and cooperation in future initiatives with the Faculty of Liturgical Musicians (FLM) and Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University (JHPCU) USA, the Three Counties School of Music's popular qualifications, which continue to motivate and encourage candidates, are now also recognised by the Faculty of Liturgical Musicians (FLM) and Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi Christian University (JHPCU) USA. However, none of the Three Counties assessments are formally accredited, and as such, they are not a source of gaining UCAS points.

Three Counties School of Music always encourages applicants to grasp the opportunity to write in their Personal Statement (part of the UCAS application form) about their musical journey and musical interests, experiences and  achievements, plus their success in any musical qualifications. Therefore, whilst UCAS points can be valuable in gaining admission to Higher Education, TCSM feels that in some cases, relevant experience can perhaps be just as important.

The school aims to encourage candidates to:
  • Be passionate about music
  • To gain an in depth knowledge of the different aspects,  styles and genres of music and to have a greater understanding of musical performance, accompaniment & composition
  • To develop and broaden their  general musicianship, musical understanding and knowledge
  • To take a pride in their musical interests, activities, musical  qualifications, experiences & achievements

We believe our assessments are:
  • Accessible
  • Enjoyable
  • Rewarding
  • Stimulating
  • Excellent for the Resume/CV
  • Real sense of Focus & Achievement
  • No pre-requisites for Grades, Performance Certificates or the first two levels of diploma (CertTCSM & DipTCSM)
